The Healing Power of The Humble Daisy
There are daisies everywhere especially in among the grass in your garden (if you happen to be lucky enough to have a garden!) or out in the fields. And the good news is that they have many healing properties for the skin and mind and body.

The Daisy is anti-inflammatory
The daisy has anti-inflammatory properties. It is known by many a gardener as the "Gardener's Friend" due to it ability to help with joint pains and general pains from bending down and stooping for long periods of time. It is quite like Arnica in this regard and due to the saponins found in it especially wild daisies, it can combat inflammation.
Daisies Known To Heal Wounds
It has been said (and I can't vouch for this) that daisies in a pomade make a wonderful healing balm. Applied to the clean wound, it can heal it up within days and also reduce scarring. This is largely due to its astringent and anti-inflammatory properties
The Humble Daisy and Skin Lightening
The daisy can help reduce the appearance of dark spots on the skin. By regular application of a daisy balm applied to the affected area it can start to disappear.
Daisy Brew for Indigestion
The daisy is completely edible and making a brew with it is a good way to help with indigestion.
How to Harness the Healing Power of Daisies
There are many ways to ingest or use daisies:-
You can make a brew or a tea or infusion by picking fresh daisies, or using daisies that you've already dried, and then steeping them in boiling water, leaving it for 10 minutes. Then just drink it!
To dry daisies, simply collect the flower heads, and put either in an oven at 100 degrees Celsius for 20 minutes or leave to dry in a cardboard box for 2 weeks. Then store in an airtight jar for up to 6 months.
You can make a daisy infused oil. This can simply be used directly on the skin. To make this oil take a 100 grams of dried daisies and put into 100 grams of carrier oil, like sweet almond oil or golden jojoba oil, and put on a sunny window sill for 3 weeks.
You now have the recipe and instructions for making an infused oil with daisies. This can be added to ingredients like cocoa butter, shea butter and beeswax (see recipe and instructions below)
Ingredients For Daisy Balm
100 grams cocoa butter
50 grams shea butter
50 grams beeswax
100 grams daisy infused oil (strained)
Instructions On How To Make A Daisy Balm
Put all butters and beeswax in a saucepan and gently melt. Add the infused oil and any essential oils you'd like to use at 1% of total mixture. Pour into a container and leave to harden again. Use this regularly or when in pain all over the affected area
