How To Make Calendula Oil
We make our calendula oil here at Heartworks Skincare which we then use in a lot of our products:- our body butter and our hand cream
We use calendula oil in our body butter and hand cream because calendula oil is very good for the skin. It's both healing and soothing.
HARVESTING THE CALENDULA PETALS
So over the summer months, we go out every morning and deadhead the calendula flowers (by the way, calendula is marigold)
We then bring these flowers inside an airy room and place them in one layer on cardboard. After a week or two, these flowers are dry and the next phase can be done. Click on the link below to see me removing the petals from the body of the flower. We only use the petals. They are a beautiful golden colour. It's like harvesting the sun

So these dried petals go into a jar which we then fill up to the top with sweet almond oil and leave on a sunny window sill for about 4/6 weeks. And that's it. You now have this golden oil
INGREDIENTS AND UTENSILS FOR CALENDULA OIL
A litre jar with lid
Enough dried petals to fill the jar up three-quarters of the way
Enough sweet almond oil (maybe half litre) to fill the jar to the top
Leave in a sunny spot during the summer months. If it's gone past summer, take the jar and submerge in simmering water for half an hour
