Why Use Shampoo Bars

A very good question - why use shampoo bars as opposed to shampoo in plastic bottles.  We, at Heartworks, would like to give you some reasons as to why you would use a shampoo bar.  

1.  Whether you have oily hair or dry hair, shampoo bars are normally packed with lots of different oils which will benefit the type of hair you have.  For example, our shampoo bars - Lavender and Nettle or Rosemary and Nettle are super for dry scalp.  Why?  Because the nettle in there is very beneficial to dry scalp and/or dandruff as it suits itchiness, dryness and irritation.  But not only the nettle in the shampoo bar is what's beneficial but also the wonderful oils, such as, sweet almond, olive, coconut, kukui nut and shea butter - all play a part in combatting the problems that come with dry hair/scalp.

In the case of oily hair, we have 3 different types with essential oils being the main difference - cedarwood and bergamot, tea tree and lemon and lavender.  These three shampoo bars have a high concentration of castor oil which is great for cleansing the hair of all residue including sebum, washing it out of your hair and down the drain without taking your natural oils in the scalp.  Another ingredient in our shampoo bars for oily hair is jojoba oil.  This is really beneficial for the hair, scalp and skin as it mimics our own production of sebum and tricks it into not producing any more.  

2. The benefits of using a shampoo bar are enormous for the environment and our bodies.  For example, as there is no plastic bottle being used, this has an absolutely incredible side- effect on landfill  not filling up with plastic.  Imagine all those plastic bottles in our oceans and in our landfills.  I shiver to think of it.  So shampoo bars, which come with miminal packaging,  are eco-friendly and sustainable.  Just pop one  in your bag next time your are travelling -  it's so convenient and there is no need to declare it at customs.  

Also, because shampoo bars are normally handmade, the quality if much more superior.  Normally, the use of simple ingredients, such as, oils, essential oils and some botanicals are all that is within a bar of shampoo.  Therefore, there are no harmful chemicals which can damage the hair over time and cause irritation.  What you get is pure, honest and simple ingredients that do the job - cleaning, nourishing and conditioning the hair
