What is a Beard?

Well, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary it is "the hair that grows on a man's face often excluding the mustache".  And this is what Wikipedia has to say:-

A beard is the hair that grows on the jaw, chin, upper lip, lower lip, cheeks, and neck of humans and some non-human animals. In humans, usually only pubescent or adult males are able to grow beards. Some women with hirsutism, a hormonal condition of excessive hairiness, may develop a beard. 

That's a handful for something that we all know the meaning of!

I won't begin to tell what the Urban Dictionary says but it's something along the lines of;- a girl or a boy hired to accompany a celebrity girl or boy in some formal event - something like that!  A very different definition to what we know as a beard.

SPEAKING OF BEARDS
