Itchy Skin
Did you ever go crazy scratching a particular part of the body. It could be your back or arms or your legs. That itch just won't go away. The more you scratch, the more it's itchy. Really hard to break the itch cycle!
What Causes Itchy Skin
The causes are many:-
One of the most common causes are due to dry skin. This is particularly true in older people where skin tends to get drier and in need of more moisturising. This applied especially to women with menopause.
Or it could be due to a skin condition such as eczema or psoriasis. Or even scabies, insect bites or burns
It might be a symptom internally like a liver condition or kidney condition
It might be caused by a nervous condition
Perhaps you changed your moisturising cream recently or your washing powder and are having an allergic reaction
Some fabrics can cause itching such as wool
Certain medicines such as opioids can cause itching
The sun can burn your skin and make it itchy especially when it is healing
Whatever the cause, it is important to keep an eye on it. If it persists for more than 3 weeks then it's time to get to the bottom. This might mean going to a doctor, or changing you moisturiser or washing powder. If it is due to an underlying liver condition, you will definitely have to contact your doctor.
If it is due to excessively dry skin, then you need to moisturise it. Try our body butter with coconut oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, sweet almond oil, apricot kernel oil and our own homemade calendula oil. All these oils along with beeswax will keep your skin feeling moisturised and protected.
